CentOS 6.4 に VMware Tools 9.0.0 をインストール

VMware ESXi 5.1.0 上にゲストOSとしてインストールしたCentOS 6.4 に、CLI画面から VMware Tools をインストールする方法をメモしておきます。

VMware-Tools-Install

まず、コンソールから「仮想マシン」メニューの「ゲスト」ー「VMware Tools のインストール/アップグレード」を選択します。

次に、CentOSのコンソールから以下のコマンドを投入していきます。

# mkdir /mnt/cdrom
# mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
mount: ブロックデバイス /dev/sr0 は書き込み禁止です、読込み専用でマウントします
# cp /mnt/cdrom/VMwareTools-9.0.0-782409.tar.gz /usr/local/src
# umount /mnt/cdrom
# cd /usr/local/src/
# tar zxvf VMwareTools-9.0.0-782409.tar.gz
# cd vmware-tools-distrib/
# ./vmware-install.pl

上記の最後で実行している「vmware-install.pl」は VMware Tools for Linux のインストールコマンドです。全てデフォルトのままで進めています。

なお、このコマンドの実行途中で、VMware Tools のインストールが終わり、続けて設定コマンドである「vmware-config-tools.pl」が継続実行されます。ここでも全てデフォルトのままで進めています。

以下、少し長いですが、その実行結果です。

# ./vmware-install.pl

The installation of VMware Tools 9.0.0 build-782409 for Linux completed
successfully. You can decide to remove this software from your system at any
time by invoking the following command: "/usr/bin/vmware-uninstall-tools.pl".

Before running VMware Tools for the first time, you need to configure it by
invoking the following command: "/usr/bin/vmware-config-tools.pl". Do you want
this program to invoke the command for you now? [yes]

Making sure services for VMware Tools are stopped.

The VMware FileSystem Sync Driver (vmsync) allows external third-party backup
software that is integrated with vSphere to create backups of the virtual

以上で、インストールと設定が終了です。

CentOSを再起動します。

# sync
# sync
# shutdown -r now

CentOSの再起動後、VMware Tools の状況を確認してみます。

# ls -a /usr/bin/ | grep vmware

vSphere Client 上でも、該当CentOS にて、VMware Tools が実行中となっている事が確認できます。
